Exists
Route true when the variable is defined (null still counts).

Scope
Any
Exists checks one context variable and continues on true when the path is defined. A null value still counts as existing and takes true. Only a fully unset value takes false.
Use Is Null when both missing and null should take true. Use Is Not Null when null should take false.
Configure
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Variable | Context path to test (args.*, pipe.*, named variables, and so on) |
If Variable is not set, the run takes the false path.
Handles
| Handle | Role |
|---|---|
| In (target) | Incoming connection |
| Out (source) | Continues when the variable is defined (including null) |
| False | Continues when the variable is unset |
Connect both outlets if every path should keep running. An unconnected outlet ends that branch.
Pipe schema
The next block reads this on the data pipe (pipe.value).
| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Result | boolean | true when the variable is defined |
Use case
- Tell “this key was in the payload, even if it is null” apart from “this key was omitted.”
- After an optional JSON or API field: null means the producer sent an empty value; unset means it was not included.
- Use Is Null when you do not need that distinction.
