SMTP
Send email through a standard SMTP host.
Provider
smtpSMTP sends mail through any standard SMTP server (your host, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, SendGrid, and similar). Use it when you need outbound email and are not using Gmail OAuth.
Connecting and testing is the same for every provider — see Third Party Services.
Get SMTP details from your mail provider
SMTP has no single vendor site. Copy host, port, username, and password from the provider you already use.
Common examples:
| Provider | Where to look |
|---|---|
| Gmail / Google Workspace | Enable 2-step verification, then create an App password. Host smtp.gmail.com, port 587, secure off unless you use implicit TLS on 465. |
| Microsoft 365 | SMTP AUTH in the Microsoft 365 admin center. Typical host smtp.office365.com, port 587. |
| SendGrid | SMTP relay — username apikey and an API key as the password. |
| Your own server | Hosting control panel or mail admin docs (cPanel, Fastmail, Amazon SES, and so on) |
Use a mailbox the provider allows for SMTP. Personal Gmail often requires an app password, not your normal login password.
Connect in Vettero
Open Integrations → Third Party Services, add SMTP, then Connect Now.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Host | SMTP hostname (for example smtp.gmail.com) |
| Port | Usually 587 (STARTTLS) or 465 (implicit TLS) |
| Username | Mailbox or SMTP username |
| Password | SMTP password or app password |
| Secure (TLS/SSL) | Turn on for implicit TLS (typical on port 465) |
Use it
Pick this connection on agents and workflows that send mail through SMTP. Inbound Gmail still uses the Google connection.
