Twilio is the messaging and voice account behind WhatsApp Chat, WhatsApp Message Received, and WhatsApp Templates. Enable WhatsApp on the connection before those surfaces appear.
Connecting, testing, and toggling capabilities is the same for every provider — see Third Party Services.
Get credentials on Twilio
- Open the Twilio Console and sign in.
- On the console home, copy Account SID and Auth Token (click to reveal the token). You can also open Account → API keys & tokens.
- For WhatsApp, set up a WhatsApp sender under Messaging → Senders → WhatsApp senders (or Twilio’s WhatsApp sandbox while you test). The number must be approved for WhatsApp on that account.
- For SMS or voice, buy or port a number under Phone Numbers and enable the products you need.
You do not paste inbound webhook URLs in Twilio for WhatsApp Chat. Saving the WhatsApp Chat channel sets the inbound webhook for that sender.
